FBR amended Rule 80B of the Income Tax Rules in May 2026 to specify information required from an INGO for tax registration.
What changed
S.R.O. 879(I)/2026 added a new sub-rule dealing specifically with an INGO required to be registered under Rule 80. The listed information includes the taxpayer name, business address, accounting period, business phone, principal business activity and authorised-representative information.
Why it matters
Tax registration is part of the wider compliance record of an INGO operating in Pakistan. It should be coordinated with the Ministry of Interior registration file and local-office documentation.
Do not use an old checklist
Because the amendment is from May 2026, an older internal compliance checklist may not reflect the current Rule 80B requirements.
